At Sovereign Grace Bible Church we strive to worship God in simplicity, sobriety, modesty, and beauty. In this simplicity there is a range and depth which may engulf our minds and hearts as we worship the LORD, the LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth… (Exodus 34:6). As such our worship is regulated by the word of God. We have found this just as joyful and engaging as any other worship preference. We encourage modesty in those who attend to help facilitate a focus on the Spirit of God. It is a relief and rest to be in an assembly where women dress according to their gender and men show the same respect thus honoring God for the beauty in which he created the human race
The church ought to be a safe place for families. It is a sad state to see families torn apart in the very place where they should be brought together. Church should be a place where people are strengthened and encouraged for their work in the home. The home then becomes an extension of the peace of God found at church. The home can become a place of refuge and safety; a place where God is. Imagine the blessing for children to grow in a place where the gospel is heard and then to go home and to hear it explained and see it practiced from Godly fathers and mothers. When the bible is practiced in church and in the home lives are brought to the place where they may worship the Lord in the beauty of Holiness.
The Lord should be known for his mercy and grace. How it calms the soul to read of the grace of God and the free salvation set forth the gospel. The Lord should also be known as LORD and God. That is why we are called Sovereign Grace Bible Church. Here you will learn how a sovereign God has had sovereign grace on poor sinners. You will learn how this grace is “in Christ” and is brought forth by the power of the We ought to have a trust in the power of the gospel that it may accomplish such mercy as will last forever and ever. We will not need to use worldly attractions as a reason to meet together as we trust in “the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation” (Romans 1:16). This is done through the declaration of the whole counsel of God. “Thy word is like a deep, deep mine and jewels rich and rare, are hidden in its mighty depths for every searcher there” (Edwin Hodder). The church should indeed be a place where we learn the scriptures. It is in the scriptures where we find out “who God is, what he has done, and what he demands of us.”
We are a confessional congregation. We want our beliefs to be well documented and published. We believe the historic confession written by the particular Baptist of London to thoroughly put forth what we believe the sacred scriptures teach. We take great comfort and joy to know that our doctrine is both historic and well known. Please visit the link above to read for yourself. If you are unfamiliar with the confession then it will be our delight to help you discover this wonderful testament to God’s truth.
